Welcome to our Sunday readings and sermon. Today we remember in the Church Crispin and Crispinian who were shoemakers and lived in the 3rd century. They were reputed to have preached the Christian faith in Gaul whilst exercising their trade and so, like St Paul earning his living as a tent-maker, were no drain on the Christian community. Welcome to our Sunday readings and sermon at Harvest. Sadly, we cannot have the usual gifts of fruit, vegetables and food which we pass on to those in need. However, we will be having a one-off collection for the Agricultural Chaplaincy in Cheshire. Some of you will have visited its stand at the Cheshire show in previous years and know something about the benefits it has for the farming community stretching from support for housing to personal and pastoral care for farmers. This week the Church remembers in particular William Tyndale (b 1494), translator of the scriptures whose first translation of the bible in to contemporary English became the foundation of the Authorised Version.
